Habitat value comes from nectar, fruit and nesting structure, and the species here supply at least one of the three. Ficus is the heaviest fruiting group, Callistemon, Leptospermum and Brachychiton the strongest nectar sources, and Acacia, Syzygium, Searsia and Cordia add seed and shelter.
Habitat planting only works if it is continuous through the year, which means choosing species that flower and fruit in different months rather than a single strong performer.
