The palettes behind the projects

Resort and destination work on this page draws on a narrow set of species that recur because they perform, not because they are fashionable. The vertical layer is almost always palms for resort landscaping, the canopy comes from trees for luxury resorts, and the understorey from shrubs for luxury resorts.

Theme park and visitor attraction planting is a different discipline again, built around specimens that have to read from a distance and survive constant footfall, which is feature trees for public spaces and, at the top end, hero trees. How those are chosen is set out in selecting trees for theme parks.
