Slow growth is a feature wherever a tree has to sit near a building, a boundary or a service run and still be the right size in twenty years. Olea leads this range, with Brachychiton rupestris, Ceratonia siliqua, Podocarpus macrophyllus, Pinus pinea, Metrosideros excelsa and Aloidendron for sculptural form.
The trade off is that slow growing species have to be bought at close to their finished size, because they will not catch up on site.
