Description

The Bombax ceiba, or Cotton Tree, is a fast-growing, deciduous tree known for its striking red flowers, thorny trunk, and majestic form. Growing up to 20–30 meters, it features a straight, buttressed trunk and broad, spreading branches. In early spring, its leafless canopy bursts into vivid red, cup-shaped blooms, which are a magnet for birds and pollinators. Its seed pods contain silky fibres, giving the tree its common name.

Native to tropical Asia and Africa, the Cotton Tree thrives in warm climates and is widely planted as an ornamental and shade tree.
