Evergreen structure is what keeps a scheme legible when the deciduous layer is bare, which matters most on boundaries, screens and any planting doing a privacy job. The range is led by Ficus, Olea, Syzygium and Magnolia, with Elaeocarpus, Melaleuca and Corymbia for softer texture and Pinus and Dracaena where a harder, more architectural line is wanted.
Evergreen does not mean maintenance free. Most of these species drop leaf continuously rather than seasonally, so litter management near pools, water features and parking has to be designed in rather than discovered. Where the brief also asks for seasonal change, pair this range with deciduous trees; where the job is a boundary, screening and privacy trees is the tighter list.
