Species overview
The Juniperus brevifolia, or Azores Juniper, is a small to medium-sized evergreen conifer native to the Azores islands in the North Atlantic. This hardy tree is characterised by its dense, compact growth habit, aromatic dark green foliage, and ability to adapt to challenging environments. Growing up to 5 to 10 metres tall, it is often found in cloud forests, where it plays a critical role in stabilising soils and supporting local biodiversity.
Ideal for windbreaks, erosion control, and naturalised plantings, the Azores Juniper is a rare and ecologically significant species suited for temperate and coastal climates.
