Brachychiton
Brachychiton is one of the most useful Australian genera for hot dry work, combining real drought tolerance with strong form and, in several species, heavy flowering. Brachychiton rupestris is the bottle tree, Brachychiton acerifolium the Illawarra flame, Brachychiton populneus the reliable kurrajong, and 'Jerilderie Red' and Brachychiton bidwillii the smaller flowering selections.
Most Brachychiton flower on bare wood after a dry period, so a well irrigated specimen may never give the display it was specified for. Manage the water if the flower is the point.
