Species overview
Pyrenaria spectabilis is a tea-family tree of southern China and northern Indochina, and it flowers like the camellias it is related to: solitary white blooms with a boss of yellow stamens, set against large leathery leaves.
It is a woodland and park species rather than a street tree, used for shade and for feature planting in sheltered, well-watered ground.
