The complete low water shrub range, wider than the desert native list because it takes in the Mediterranean and Australian species that perform under reduced irrigation. Acacia, Callistemon, Syzygium, Leptospermum, Juniperus, Lavandula, Nandina, Rhaphiolepis, Pittosporum, Artemisia, Salvia and Ziziphus carry it.
Shrubs dry out faster than trees because their root systems are shallower, so the same irrigation reduction that a mature tree absorbs can kill the planting beneath it.
