Jacaranda mimosifolia
Two forms of one species: the familiar violet blue Jacaranda mimosifolia and the white flowered 'Alba'. Both make a broad, open, fine textured crown and both flower on bare or nearly bare wood, which is what produces the massed colour Jacaranda is planted for.
Jacaranda is a poor choice over paving, seating or parking because the fallen flowers are slippery and stain, and it is at its best over lawn, gravel or informal ground.
