Downy Lavender

Lavandula pubescens - Downy Lavender

The Lavandula pubescens, or Downy Lavender, is a distinctive aromatic shrub native to arid regions of the Middle East, including the Arabian Peninsula. It is known for its soft, downy, silvery-grey foliage and spikes of pale purple to violet flowers, which bloom in spring and early summer. Growing up to 1 to 1.5 metres, this drought-tolerant shrub thrives in hot, dry conditions and poor soils, making it ideal for xeriscaping and Mediterranean-style gardens.

This hardy lavender is prized for its ornamental appeal, fragrance, and adaptability to extreme environments.
