Tipu Tree
The Tipuana tipu, commonly known as the Tipu Tree or Pride of Bolivia, is a large, broad-crowned tree from the subtropical valleys of Bolivia and northern Argentina. It carries pinnate leaves on a wide, spreading frame and, in late spring and summer, a heavy crop of apricot to golden yellow pea flowers followed by single-winged papery seed pods.
It is one of the most widely planted large shade trees in Gulf and Mediterranean cities, valued for the speed at which it throws a broad canopy over a street or car park. It is best sited where its surface roots and its seasonal leaf and pod drop can be accommodated.
