Rhanterium epapposum - Arfaj

The Rhanterium epapposum, commonly known as Arfaj, is a hardy, drought-tolerant shrub native to the arid and semi-arid regions of the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and surrounding areas. Recognised as the national flower of Kuwait, it is a key species in desert ecosystems. Arfaj features small, silvery-green leaves and bright yellow, daisy-like flowers that bloom profusely in spring following rainfall. Growing up to 0.5 to 1 metre tall, it forms dense clumps that are vital for soil stabilisation and as a forage plant for grazing animals.

This resilient shrub is a cornerstone of desert landscaping and ecological restoration projects in arid environments.
