Manfreda maculosa

Texas Tuberose

Manfreda maculosa - Texas Tuberose

The Manfreda maculosa, or Texas Tuberose, is a soft-leaved relative of the agaves from the limestone country of southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. Its grey-green strap leaves are spotted with maroon and sit low, at 0.2 to 0.3 metres, before a slender flower spike rises well clear of them.

It is a rock and gravel garden plant, valued for foliage pattern at ground level and for the night fragrance of its summer flowers.
