Small Persimmon

The Diospyros vaccinioides, or Small Persimmon, is a slow, densely twiggy evergreen shrub of southern China and Hong Kong, reaching only 1 to 2 metres and carrying small glossy dark green leaves on very fine branchlets.
That fineness of texture is the point of the plant: it clips into tight formal shapes and low hedges that hold their line, and it has long been valued as bonsai stock.
The Small Persimmon is the choice where a low evergreen hedge has to stay genuinely fine in texture and genuinely low.
