Boswellia carteri (Boswellia sacra) - Frankincense Tree

The Boswellia carteri (syn. Boswellia sacra), or Frankincense Tree, is a small, hardy deciduous tree renowned for its aromatic resin, which has been prized for centuries in religious ceremonies, traditional medicine, and perfumery. Growing up to 5 metres, it features a gnarled trunk, papery bark, and pinnate, green-grey leaves. During the dry season, it produces small, star-shaped white flowers.
