The Terminalia ivorensis, commonly known as Black Afara or Ivory Coast Almond, is a large deciduous tree native to tropical West Africa. It is highly valued for its fast growth, straight trunk, and broad, spreading canopy that provides excellent shade. Growing up to 30–45 meters tall, it features compound leaves that turn yellow before falling, and small, inconspicuous flowers that bloom in clusters.

This tree is widely used in reforestation, agroforestry, and as a source of high-quality timber. Its adaptability and ecological benefits make it an important species in tropical and subtropical regions.
